What is the difference between Manual, AI Assistant, and AI Screener modes?

The difference is who owns the screening decision and how AI participates in the review workflow. Manual mode keeps screening fully human-led. AI Assistant mode gives suggestions while the human reviewer still records the decision. AI Screener mode can configure AI as an independent reviewer stream where the workflow supports it.

How the modes work

  1. Manual: reviewers make screening decisions without AI acting as a decision-support reviewer.
  2. AI Assistant: AI provides a suggested judgement or supporting signal, but the human reviewer decides what to record.
  3. AI Screener: AI can act as a configured independent reviewer stream, with disagreements and final decisions still handled through human oversight.

Teams should choose the mode that matches their protocol, risk tolerance, reviewer availability, and documentation expectations.
